KNOTT so MAD ‘Collections to Collect’ brings together fashion, art, sound, and movement in a vibrant dialogue. More than a retrospective this exhibition is a celebration of a quarter century of creation and friendship — the expression of sincere, clear, and poetic fashion.
Over these twenty-five years, Jean-Paul Knott, one of the last independent Belgian designers, has traced a unique path in the landscape of contemporary fashion. His work stands out for its natural elegance, economy of gesture, and constant search for balance — between form and movement, rigor and freedom, body and spirit. These twenty-five years are also marked by artistic dialogues and collaborations. Jean-Paul Knott pays tribute to the creators, artisans, and friends who have nurtured his vision and accompanied his journey. These collaborations, founded on trust and intuition, have enriched his outlook and shaped a collective work: living and in motion. From the very beginning, Knott has sought to reveal the essence of clothing, not as a trendy object but as a space of presence and emotion.
Each creation is born from a considered gesture, a clear thought, an intimate relationship with the material. For him, simplicity becomes an act of truth: it illuminates the gesture, reveals the human, and highlights what truly matters.

Vingt-cinq années au cours desquelles Jean-Paul Knott, l’un des derniers créateurs indépendants belges, a tracé une voie singulière dans le paysage de la mode contemporaine. Son oeuvre se distingue par une élégance naturelle, une économie de gestes et une recherche constante d’équilibre entre la forme et le mouvement, la rigueur et la liberté, le corps et l’esprit. Ces vingt-cinq années sont aussi celles de dialogues et de complicités artistiques. Jean-Paul Knott rend hommage aux créateurs, artisans et amis qui ont nourri sa vision et accompagné son parcours. Ces collaborations, fondées sur la confiance et l’intuition, ont enrichi son regard et façonné une oeuvre collective: vivante et en mouvement. Depuis ses débuts, Knott s’attache à révéler l’essence du vêtement.

KNOTT SO MAD ‘Collecties om te verzamelen’ brengt mode, kunst, geluid en beweging samen in een levendige dialoog. Meer dan een retrospectief is deze tentoonstelling een viering van een kwart eeuw creatie en vriendschap, de expressie van een oprechte, duidelijke en poëtische mode.
Gedurende deze vijfentwintig jaar heeft Jean-Paul Knott, een van de laatste onafhankelijke Belgische ontwerpers, een unieke weg uitgestippeld in het landschap van de hedendaagse mode. Zijn werk valt op door natuurlijke elegantie, een zuinigheid van gebaar en een constante zoektocht naar balans, tussen vorm en beweging, precisie en vrijheid, lichaam en geest. Deze vijfentwintig jaar staan ook in het teken van artistieke dialogen en samenwerkingen. Jean-Paul Knott brengt hulde aan de ontwerpers, ambachtslieden en vrienden die zijn visie hebben gevoed en zijn traject hebben begeleid. Deze samenwerkingen, gebouwd op vertrouwen en intuïtie, hebben zijn blik verrijkt en een collectief werk gevormd: levendig en in beweging. Sinds het begin streeft Knott ernaar de essentie van kleding te onthullen, niet als trendobject maar als ruimte van aanwezigheid en emotie.
Elke creatie ontstaat uit een weloverwogen gebaar, een heldere gedachte, een intieme relatie met het materiaal. Voor hem wordt eenvoud een daad van waarheid: ze verheldert het gebaar, onthult het menselijke en werpt licht op wat wezenlijk blijft.
